Privacy Policy

Ankur ("the app") is made by Built By Mo LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, we show no ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Who the app is for
Ankur is a parenting app. It is not a children's app - it is built for parents and caregivers, and includes one set of kid-friendly educational features that a parent's child can use under the parent's account. The account holder is always an adult. Children do not create accounts, do not log in, and cannot enter personal information. Information about your child exists in the app only because you, the parent, chose to enter it.
What we collect
Your account. Your name, email address, and a password (or your Google account, if you sign in with Google). We use Google Firebase Authentication to manage sign-in.
Child profiles you create. A first name (or any nickname you choose), birth date, and the content preferences you pick. This is used to age-match activities and personalize guidance. You can use any label you like for a profile - it does not need to be your child's real name.
Learning session records. When you run a session, the app stores what activities were completed and generates a session report.
AI guidance conversations. Questions you ask the in-app guidance assistant and its answers.
Usage counts. How many AI questions and reports you've used (this is how free-plan limits are enforced). We use our own database for this - there is no third-party analytics SDK in the app.
Subscription status. Whether your account is on the free or premium plan.
What we do NOT collect
No location. No contacts. No photos. No microphone or audio recordings (audio in the app is playback only). No advertising identifiers. No data from any third-party ad or tracking SDK - there are none in the app.
How we use your information
- To run the app: profiles, sessions, reports, guidance, plan limits.
- To generate AI reports and guidance responses (see next section).
- To manage your subscription.
We process this information to provide the service you signed up for and, for optional features like AI guidance, because you choose to use them.
We do not sell or rent your information. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it for anyone else's marketing purposes, internal or external. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We may disclose information if required by law or valid legal process.
AI processing
Session reports and guidance answers are generated by large-language-model providers acting as our service providers: Groq (free plan) and Anthropic (premium plan). The relevant conversation or session text is sent to the provider to generate the response. Under these providers' current API terms, this content is not used to train their models. We recommend not including information in chat messages that you would not want processed this way (for example, use a nickname rather than a full name).
Payments
Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play and processed by Apple or Google. We never see your card or bank details. We use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, to validate purchases and keep your subscription status in sync. RevenueCat receives your purchase receipt and a pseudonymous user identifier (your account's internal user ID - never your name or email).
Where your data lives
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), encrypted in transit and at rest. Access rules restrict each account's data to that account. The people who can access production data: us (the developer), for support and operations only. Our service providers (listed above) process data on our behalf under their own contractual restrictions.
Our service providers process data in the United States. If you use the app from outside the US, your information is transferred to and processed in the US.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Account settings) - this includes child profiles, learning session records, session reports, and AI guidance conversations, and it cannot be undone. If you would rather not use the in-app flow, you can instead email us at [email protected] from your account email and we will delete it within 30 days and confirm.
Children's privacy
The app is directed to parents, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Child-related information in the app is provided by the parent, under the parent's account, and is used only to provide the app's features to that parent. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data tied to your account, correct it, or delete it - use the in-app delete flow, or email [email protected]. If you are in a region with specific privacy rights (for example the EU/UK or California), these requests are honored for everyone; we don't discriminate by region.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. For material changes, we will also try to give you actual notice (such as an in-app notice or an email) rather than relying only on the updated page. Continued use of the app after a change takes effect means the updated policy applies.
